PwC UK Business Restructuring – Shifting Priorities

PwC's UK division, led by Marco Amitrano, has announced the launch of a standalone technology and artificial intelligence unit as part of the accounting firm’s most significant internal overhaul in recent years.

This transformation is expected to impact roughly 1 in 10 staff members, with a newly established “digital delivery unit” drawing talent from PwC’s existing consulting, deals, tax and risk practices. The focus of this division will be technology innovation, AI engineering, as well as cloud and data services.

While existing practices are anticipated to undergo adjustments to support these changes, senior management has emphasised that this is not a cost-cutting initiative or a step toward redundancies. Instead, the restructuring aims to expand market reach and compliment the firm’s existing service offering.

Amidst a challenging period for the UK consulting market, this strategic move by PwC reflects the anticipated growth areas for professional services firms. AI advisory services, in particular, are viewed as crucial for long-term success.
